Here be Monsters

Passing through a field on the way to Loweswater in Cumbria last Spring I came across these sinister beings.

Could they be fossilised prehistoric tree monsters?

I’m rather grateful it was a clear morning, unlike today.

I would hate to come across these lurking in the mist
