Firstly there are bacteria – I have a strange affinity for these little single celled specks that have such a huge impact on all our lives from the moment we are born to the inevitable ending. Every step of the way we are host to billions of bacteria. In terms of sheer numbers Bacteria are staggering. If memory serves the human body is composed of approximately 1023 living cells and yet living on or in an adult human body are approximately 1028 bacterial cells.
