The opened up vista of Lime Street from St George’s Hall

I walk past St George’s Hall most work days on my way home from work yet barely register a side doorway beneath the hall with a notice with the opening times of the Registrar’s office, until one Saturday, with a few minutes to spare, I took a look inside on my way to meet friends at Lime Street Station.

As I didn’t have time to explore further I decided to return with my camera, but not until I had sampled something from the excellent little café.

Suitably replenished I made my way along the corridors to the court cells.

Everything is designed to intimidate and impress as you ascend the narrow winding stairs, dazzled by the glare of the whitewashed walls, to be blinded once more by the harsh electric lights overhead as you enter the dock.
